Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis
The book Prince Caspian begins with The Four; Peter, Susan, Edmond, and Lucy get sucked out from the train station. They get sucked into Narnia. In Narnia, they meet a dwarf whose job is to take The Four to Caspian to help with a problem. The dwarf told The Four who Caspian was. Mirtz was the king of Narnia. He hated Old Narnia, and he was afraid of the sea. He fired Caspian's nanny because she told Caspian tales of Old Narnia. Soon Mirtz hired a Professor to teach Caspian. They had secret meetings where they talked about Old Narnia, and how Mirtz killed Caspian's Father. One day Mirtz had a son and Caspian had to leave because he was in danger. He reawakened Old Narnia, but that attracted Mirtz to attack. Caspian blew Lucy's horn causing The 4 to appear. The dwarf was assigned to bring them to Caspian. Next, The Five (The Four and The Dwarf) made plans for where to go. They decided to go through Burnia. On the way, Lucy saw Aslan. She tried to get the others on her side, but only Edmond listened, so Lucy was out of luck. The bad news was that Mirtz had an army post in Burnia. So The Five went Lucy's way. Later, Peter challenges Mirtz to a duel. Meanwhile, Aslan gets everybody to believe in Lions, and Old Narnia, while punishing those who were bad. I'd rate this book on a scale of 1-10; a 7 because some parts were good, but there were a few chapters that were pure boring description. Other than that this book was pretty good. The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
A flat-chested, 5 foot 9 , freshman Mia Thermopolis is sure there is nothing worse than being invisible Mia. Is she ever wrong! Her father is in town and has something important to tell Mia. After Mia hears the news that she is a princess she is furious! And she refuses to take the throne. Not only is she disappointed that she is the princess of Genovia, but she and her best friend Lilly Moscovitz are in a HUGE fight over the makeover grandmere made her get for princess lessons. Not only is Mia stressing over Lilly, but she also has princess lessons with grandmere to deal with. She is also worrying about the fact that her mom is dating her algebra teacher! Mia has all that to deal with and more. She still has to figure out how to get a date for the Cultural Diversity Dance. It's too bad that the cutest guy at Albert Einstein high school ( Josh Richter ) doesn't know she exists. This book taught me not to judge people by their looks and concentrate more on what's inside the person. I think that was the obstacle that Mia was trying to overcome. After the makeover everyone started to notice her because she was pretty. Before the makeover, no one noticed her. That's how she determined who her real friends were. They had always liked her for herself and not because of what she looked like. Reviewer -- Lauren, March 2002.

Quotes, Poems, and Words That Flow, by Kevin Grommersch
I was on bn.com and I found a link to this new book. I highly recommend it because it has lots of well written poetry.  It is fun and interesting to read and all my friends really enjoyed it. Reviewer -- Joe Philips, December 2002.

Ramona Quimby Age Eight by Beverly Cleary
"Ramona Quimby age 8" is an inspired children's book. It has fun and laughter throughout the story. There is a whole series of Ramona books, But "Ramona Quimby age 8" was one of my favorites. It's about Ramona, a troubled and confused girl, and her family. The characters are Bezus her nine year-old sister; Mrs. Quimby, her mom; Mr. Quimby, her dad; and Picky Picky their cat. Unfortunately, the Quimbys weren't blessed with as much money as others so they all have to work hard for what they have and use it wisely. The thing is its Ramona's first day as a third grader. She is attending a new school with a different teacher, who Ramona adores until something goes wrong to change her mind about Miss Whaley. But that doesn't affect Ramona and her new little "friend", Yard Ape, who makes fun of Ramona and gets her into trouble. That's not the only time that Ramona gets in trouble though. Ramona gets in trouble in the cafeteria and in her classroom with her classmates. There fun and exciting events to come in the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes kids and how they think and work. Reviewer -- Jayme, March 2002. .

Riding Freedom, by Pam Munoz Ryan
I like this because it is a historical fiction involving horses. It is based on a true story, and has a female protagonist, which is nice.  Reviewer -- Becca Mann, 2000/2001 Teen Advisory Board.
