The Junkyard Dog by Erika Tamar
This book is about a girl named Katie, her family and a junkyard dog. In the beginning of the story, when Katie first sees the dog, there are some boys throwing rocks at Lucky (the dog in the junkyard.) Then she starts worrying about the dog. After a few days Katie starts working on a doghouse for Lucky so he would be safe from the cold weather and dangerous storms. The problem in this story is about saving Lucky and seeing if he would survive the winter. Near the middle of the book there are gunshots over at the junkyard that meant something was being stolen. Katie got even more worried when she heard the gunshots at the junkyard. When Katie went to feed Lucky, he was limping on his right back leg. She finds out later that the reason for Lucky's limping is because of the metal bullet cap stuck in his paw. If I say anything more about the book I'll give away the ending. I'd recommend this book to any one who likes animals, carpentry, or fiction stories. Reviewer --Ryan, March 2002.

The Landry News by Andrew Clements

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Little Women, was an awesome book. A book that every young girl should read, and I promise you that you will love it. Little Women has a little bit of everything: romance, suspense, sorrow, and happiness!! Every young girl will find a part of herself in one of the characters. I saw my self in Jo. I would definitely recommend this book to my best friend. I would tell her that once you get started youll never be able to put it down. So find a comfy chair, and get your self some water, and enjoy one of the best books ever!  Reviewer --Kacey Kazan, September 2002.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
I thought that the book was easy to read and understand. It was very interesting and never got boring. It tells how the sisters start out as little girls and through the years and their experiences grow up to be wonderful women. My favorite thing about the book is that it showed that the girls went through so much to get where they had to go and they got through it together. But in the end the girls knew everything was going to be ok and it was a happy ending. I thought that it was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good story. Reviewer -- Alli, September 2002.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott  "Little Women" is a story about the four March sisters and how their lives changed as they grew older. Jo, the oldest of the four, is a writer. Meg is just like any other girl in the 19th century, but a little shy. Beth, one of the middle sisters, spends most of the book in bed, battling a fatal illness, and then there's Amy the youngest. The story follows them through boyfriends, special holidays, family deaths, and marrages. The book was good, but it was kind of hard to read. There were so many characters, and so much going on, I had a hard time remembering who was who. The book was kind of slow, but it was based a long time ago, and people my age would probably enjoy something a little more modern. My favorite thing about the book was how all the characters seemed to handle all their problems so well, and managed not to fall apart. If I were to mention this book to one of my friends I would tell them to read it. I would say that it is about four teenage girls dealing with all the hardships of growing up, and they would most likely enjoy it. In conclusion, I guess I enjoyed the book. Though it was really long, everything was written well, and was very detailed. Reviewer --Samantha Whitehead, September 2002.

The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles by Julie Andrews Edwards
The reason I like this book is that anyone of any age can enjoy it. I've read it 5 times and I'm still exited at the end. The book is about three children, Tom, Linda, and Ben. Here is a bit of the story. The children are walking out of the zoo on their way home when they meet a funny little man. The man is wearing clothes that don't match and carrying an umbrella on a sunny day. This man turns out to be a professor who won the nobel prize for his works in genetics. The kids don't find this out until they get home and see his picture on the front page. The man tells the kids about a creature that they don't believe exists. The creature is called the wangdoodle and it is the last of its kind. To find the Wangdoodle , the kids must make it to Wangdoodle land . This will take time and effort, but the kids agree. When they finally make it , they have to face challenges such as getting past all sorts of traps set by a creature named the "prock". He is the wangdoodle's prime minister and will do anything in his power to stop the kids. This is a good book and I recommend it to anyone. The only bad part is it has no pictures, but you should still read it! Reviewer -- Eric Waldowski, March 2002.

The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles by Julie Andrews Edwards
I wanted to thank the other person who commented on this book because I have been looking for it for a long time.  I remember by teacher reading it to us in grade 3 and I had since forgotten the title but have been searching for anything containing the word wangdoodle for years and now I know . . . so I will be able to revisit this amazing adventure from my childhood.  Reviewer -- Sarah Clark, March 2002.
