Books with movable parts have been created and used for centuries, mostly in scholarly works to start. In the 18th century, these paper engineering techniques were applied to books designed for entertainment also and are now commonly known as pop up books.
Throughout the months of December and January, the Library will have on display an amazing collection of pop up books from the private collections of Bloomfield Township Public Library librarian Karen Imarisio and retired librarian and friend Patricia Stobbe. This collection features books designed by well known paper engineers such as Robert Sabuda, Matthew Reinhart and Kees Moerbeek as well as a wide variety of paper engineering styles, formats and stories.
Come and see Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and many more stories in three dimension!

During the holiday season, the Detroit Free Press distributes new books to needy, at-risk Michigan children. New unwrapped books are needed for children from birth to 12 years old. To support this program, please drop off your Gift of Reading book donation at the Library by November 30, 2010.
