Enjoy an exquisite display of fountain pens, writing implements, inkwells and more at the Library throughout the month of December. This exhibit is presented through the courtesy of pen collector Ralph Stillwell with items generously on loan from Celia Domalewski, Julian Goloda, Marian Horowitz and Paradise Pen.

The Library will be a drop-off location for the Detroit Free Press Gift of Reading program again this year. From November 1st through November 28th, new, unwrapped books for children from birth through 12 years old may be brought to the Library lobby. These books will be distributed to children in the Detroit area just in time for the holiday season.
Last year was the best year yet for this program. Their goal was to provide 27,000 Detroit Public School students in pre-K through third grade. With everyone’s generous donations of new books and money, they delivered 37,000 books to students! Thank you for your generousity and help in giving children the chance to discover the pleasure of reading.
Beginning November 2, 2011, Bloomfield Township expects to repair a few sections fo Timberlake Road with new asphalt. This work should take one to two days, depending on the weather. Our hope is that this project will be completed quickly and will be as little inconvenience as possible to anyone coming to the Library during this time. Thank you for your understanding
The Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library BIG book sale weekend is coming up! Saturday, November 12 sale hours are 9:30am - 4:30pm. The first hour - from 9:30am - 10:30am - is open to Friends members only. Sunday sale hours are 12noon - 4:30pm with the first hour open to Friends members also. Sunday is bag sale day - buy a bag for only $5. Come find your treasure!

The Michigan Opera Theater will be performing at the Library at 3p.m. on Sunday, October 16. Enjoy live theatre for the entire family as they perform the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Everyone is welcome to this program, part of Bloomfield Township's community open house. Registration is not required. We hope you can join us!

The October 28 evening program includes a Piano Trio in E-flat Major, Op.1 No.1 (1793) by Ludwig van Beethoven; a Trio for Piano, Clarinet and Cello in A Minor by Johannes Brahms; and, a Piano Trio in G Minor, Op. 63 (1819) by Carl Maria von Weber.

The Bloomfield Township Public Library is honored to be included on the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2011 house tour. The tour begins at the Library on Sunday, September 25, from 11am - 4pm. Tickets are required and may be purchased in advance at several local businesses, but not at the Library.
