The popular Park & Read passes are now available at Bloomfield Township Public Library through October 1, 2010. A pass entitles you to one free entrance into any Michigan State Park or Recreation area for the day. Many parks even have a hammock available for you to borrow too!
So, visit your library this summer to borrow a book and a Park and Read pass, available at the Circulation Desk. Then enjoy a relaxing – and FREE – day of reading in Michigan’s great outdoors!
Applying for a marriage license? Looking for court records? Need a copy of your birth certificate? Order these documents online and have these delivered right to your home! Bloomfield Township Public Library is participating with the Oakland County Clerk's Office to offer Library CARD (Convenience & Access to Records and Documents). Applications for the Jeanette P. Myers Memorial Scholarship are now being accepted through Friday, June 1.
The Myers Memorial Scholarship provides funds to encourage and support the post-secondary education of past or present employees of the Bloomfield Township Public Library, or persons who have some relationship with the Library.
A total amount of at least $500 will be awarded to scholarship applicants to use for books, tuition or other relevant expenses to assist in working toward an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree, of for pursuit of other post secondary education.

The Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library will hold their annual dinner on Friday, May 7, at 6:00pm at the Library. The featured speaker is Bloomfield Township resident, graphic artist and World War II Veteran Jack Keenan. Jack sketched details of a soldier’s life throughout World War II. These sketches extend through several battles in Europe. Many of these sketches have been placed in the special war collection at the University of Michigan. Jack Keenan also was part of Keith Famie’s new World War II documentary film, “Detroit, Our Greatest Generation”.
For ten summers, Jack and his wife Ellen, parents of ten children and dedicated community leaders, painted coordinating themes on the Youth Room windows at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. Renderings of his painting are on display in the Library.
Jack will recount fascinating stories about what he witnessed in his four and ½ years of services at the Annual Dinner for Friends of Bloomfield Township Public Library only.

Learn more about Laura Ingalls Wilder by viewing a special exhibit of her letters, photos, manuscripts and books on display at the Library. This exhibit was made possible through the generosity of the Friends of Bloomfield Township Public Library and courtesy of the Detroit Public Library.
Be a Star Reader at the Library. During National Library Week – April 12 – 17 – have your photo taken with your favorite book in the Youth Services Department. Your name will be entered into a special drawing AND twenty lucky star readers will be featured on READ posters displayed monthly at the Library.
The Bloomfield Township Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome Lyle F. Dahlberg to the Board. Mr. Dahlberg is filling a vacancy on the board created by the retirement of Isabelle Charnov. The Library Board unanimously selected Mr. Dahlberg to be appointed to the position of trustee. He was issued the oath of office by Bloomfield Township Clerk Jan Roncelli on March 16, 2010 prior to the Library Board meeting.
Mr. Dahlberg is a consultant to businesses and individuals on fiduciary administration. His expertise in investments, trust and estate administration, estate planning, strategic planning and his desire to expand the library's planned giving outreach activities are especially relevent to the Library in these challenging times.
