What is a Library Trustee?

A Library Trustee recognized the importance of the Library in the community and oversees the funding of all aspects of Library services including traditional media and computer technologies.  Library Trustees support freedom of information and the American Library Association Bill of Rights, which included providing information presenting all points of view to all people of the community.  A Library Trustee sets policy, hires the Library Director, and approves the budget to provide the very best service the Library can offer the Bloomfield community.

Student or adult community service applicants must be residents of Bloomfield Township.

In addition to filling out a volunteer application, an on-site clerical test is required if hours are for school or court.

Adults or students over age 16 from any community may volunteer as long as it is not a requirement.

There are very few opportunities for students under age 16.

Placement is not immediate, and hours are dependent on project and volunteer availability.

Applications remain on file for six months. High school volunteers will be notified of upcoming orientation meetings.
