Donate to the Library

There are several ways you can donate to the Library - through tributes that honor or remember someone, with a monetary donation,  through gift planning and by donating your gently used books.

TRIBUTES

Honor, remember or celebrate a special person or occasion through "Tributes".  Gifts of check or cash to the Library may be directed to be used as needed, or for the BTPL Endowment Fund, the purchase of books or for the maintenance of the Library's gardens.

Tributes of $25 or more and directed to book purchases will be recognized by a bookplate showing the individual's name or occasion commemorated and the donor's name.  Contributions directed to the Endowment Fund assure the future of the Library and are recognized in the Library's Book of Recognition, located in the lobby.  Gifts to the Library's gardens allow the gardens to be maintained with new bulbs, annuals, perennials and shrubs, enhancing the Library's entrance and landscape.

Tribute envelopes are available in the Library or call the Library at (248) to request an envelope.

GIFTS TO THE LIBRARY

Perhaps you are one of the many library visitors who have considered donating in support of the library.  The Library's operating funds provide for purchasing books, movies and other library materials.  But art and gardens, special collections and world renown speakers are outside of  what the budget can provide.  You can make a difference with your donation.

All gifts to the Bloomfield Township Public Library are acknowledged promptly.  Gifts of $1,000 or more will be acknowledged with engraving of the donor's name in the Library's Book of Recognition, displayed in the Library lobby.

Substantial gifts of $5,000 or more will receive a small scale reproduction of Quest in bronze, the Library's lobby sculpture.

Major gifts of $10,000 or more may be acknowledged with a modest plaque or similar recognition at the discretion of the Library's Board of Trustees.

Your gift to the Library may allow you to be eligible for a federal income tax deduction and a Michigan tax credit.  Please consult with your tax advisro for your specific benefit.

GIFT PLANNING

Gift planning is a way to express your belief in the value of reading, learning and your public library.  Gift planning can take many forms - cash, with assets such as stocks, real estate and other property and through bequests, retirement plans or business interests.  For more information about types of gifts and the benefits of gift planning, please contact the Library Director, Karen Kotulis-Carter, at  (248) 642-5800.

BOOK DONATIONS

The Library greatly appreciates your donations of gently used books and media of all types.  Clean out your closets and basements, your bookshelves and cabinets and bring your donations to the Library!  Magazines, records, condensed books, encyclopedias, self taped videos and audios and sets such as the Time-Life or American Heritage are not accepted.

Donations are tax deductable - check with your tax advisor as to the value of your donation.  To receive an acknowledgement of your donation, please complete a donor receipt card, self-address it and leave it in the box provided in this room

Our book donation room is open every hour the Library is.  It is located at the west side of the Library, just a short walk down the sidewalk to the staff and delivery entrances.  To receive an acknowledgement of your donation, please complete a donor receipt card, self-address it and leave it in the box provided in this room
