In tough times, the public library becomes a lifeline to its users. Public libraries in Michigan are helping people find jobs, not only through traditional resources, but also online using free public access to the Internet.
Librarians help people everyday who have lost their jobs, are fearful of losing their jobs and homes or are coping with damaged credit. Public libraries want people to know that there is information at their public library that can help them during these tough times now.
The Bloomfield Township Public Library has responded to the current economic situation and the real needs of people in our community by working with our Metro Net partners - a consortium of 8 public libraries in southeast Michigan - to develop a list of recession resources called “Tough Times/Library Lifelines”.
This brochure lists resources for finding a job, keeping your home, locating affordable health care and repairing credit. This information is available on the Library’s website at www.btpl.org and in the Library. Look for the “Tough Times” logo.
