Library Board Selects New Library Director
The Bloomfield Township Public Library Board of Trustees announced at their June 18, 2013 meeting that Carol Mueller has been selected as the next Library Director. Carol assumed her new role effective August 1, 2013.
Library Board President, Judy Lindstrom said, “After discussion, it was unanimously agreed to offer the position of Library Director to Carol Mueller. The Trustees felt Carol was an extremely strong, competent and enthusiastic candidate. Carol is familiar with the Library and community and has worked well with the Library Board of Trustees, Friends of the Library and Library Staff. The Trustees were impressed with her style of management and technologic interests and believe Carol will be an excellent Director for the Library. The Trustees felt Carol would allow for a smooth transition, which is critical to the Library moving forward after the departure of Karen Kotulis-Carter who has been an outstanding Director."
Patrons may already know Carol Mueller as the Library’s Assistant Director, a position she has held since October, 2008. In her position as Assistant Director, Carol coordinated the strategic planning process, implemented a new brand for the Library and assisted with the redesign of the Library’s website, among other projects. Prior to joining Bloomfield Township Public Library in 2008, Carol held the position of Deputy City Librarian at the Southfield Public Library for many years. In this capacity, her focus was on overseeing the day to day library operation including staff and building.
Please stop by the Library on Wednesday, September 25, between 4-6p.m. to say hello to your new Director. Carol is looking forward to meeting you!
Everyone’s Reading Secrets of Happy Families
September 16 – October 30, 2013
The metro Detroit area community reading program returns for its 12th year with Bruce Feiler, author of bestsellers such as Walking the Bible and Council ofDads. Feiler set out to answer a question: What do happy families do right and how can the rest of us learn to make our families happier. Rather than turning to the traditional family experts, Feiler used his experience as an investigative reporter to seek new sources—the most creative minds in business, sports, technology, television and the military. He asked them what cutting-edge techniques from their professional lives they used with their own families. Information on Everyone’s Reading, including additional programming, will be available starting September 16.
MEET AUTHOR BRUCE FEILER on Wednesday, October 30 at 10a.m. at Temple Beth El, Bloomfield Township.Tickets are required and available to Township cardholders – details online and at the Adult Services Desk beginning Tuesday, September 16.
