The Library will be closed from Friday, April 6 through Sunday, April 8 for the holidays and as a staff unpaid furlough day. The Library will reopen on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 9:30am.
On Friday, April 6, the Library's electrical service will be shut down temporarily for maintenance. Some library virtual services, such as the catalog, My Account, web and telephone renewals, databases, downloadable ebooks and audiobooks, program registration and meeting room reservations, will not be available during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Seven reproductions of DIA masterpieces have been placed around Bloomfield Township, including two at the Library! Sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, 2012 is the third year for the DIA to bring framed reproductions into outdoor spaces throughout Southeast Michigan creating grand, open air galleries. We are pleased that Bloomfield Township was selected as one of the 11 communities to participate in this popular program this spring. From now through June, enjoy these masterpieces right in your own backyard! Plus, attend one or all of the events planned to celebrate this program. Everyone is invited!Official Opening: Wednesday, April 11 at 6:00p.m.; at Bloomfield Township Public Library. Everyone is invited to hear brief remarks about this program followed by a special Chamber music performance by members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Family Sunday: Sunday, April 15. All residents of Bloomfield Township and Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center members receive free museum admission with identification. Enjoy all the museum has to offer!

DATE CHANGE: IKEBANA FLOWER ARRANGING
Toshi Shimoura, Professor of Ikenobo Ikebana, returns with her wonderful demonstration of the art of Ikebana flower arranging. Initially scheduled for Saturday, May 19, this class will now be held Saturday, June 2 from 10 to 11:30a.m. Registration is not required to attend this demonstration.
Celebrate Armed Forces Weekby listening to author Russell McLogan speak about his memoir, BOY SOLDIER: COMING OF AGE DURING WORLD WAR II on Thursday, May 17 at 7p.m. Copies of Mr. McLogan’s acclaimed book will be available for purchase and signing. Registration is not required.

“Paws” For Reading on Saturday, May 12 from 1 to 3p.m. Reading is going to the dogs! School- aged children are invited to come and read to our visiting therapy dogs for a “paws”-ative reading experience. Everyone is welcome to attend but you will need to sign-up at the Youth Services desk, beginning April 16 for your special reading time.

The Library offers a variety of hands on computer classes, from Computer Basics and Online 101 to Microsoft Word and Excel and social networking.
