Q: What is the status of VISION 2002? Did you accomplish all of the goals?
A:
BTPL's long-range strategic plan, adopted July 1998, reaches the conclusion of its planning period this year. The library has addressed each of its 13 goals and the over 320 tasks planned to carry out the goals. However, accomplishing the last few improvements in services and collections will require building alterations-both renovation and expansion. So, while we have looked at each goal and task established through the six-month planning process, we are unable to achieve 100% completion.
Q: Why was the library unable to complete all of the goals within the five-year period?
A: Completing some of the goals and tasks-such as the cafe, multimedia learning lab, and renovation and expansion of the AV room -- within the time frame and without funding increases was
unachievable.
Q: What is the plan for the next five years?
A: BTPL's goal is to continue to be your community resource for a world of information and knowledge. The winter issue of Answers will announce planning meetings, which are great opportunities for you to become even
more involved. In the meantime, please call or send a note to Karen Kotulis-Carter, Library Director, telling her how BTPL can serve you more effectively in 2002 -- and in 2010.
