Join the Friends, and be a Friend of the Library

friends logoAt BTPL, opportunities to be a Friend await you when you walk in the door-or visit the library's virtual door, BTPL's web site, www.btpl.org. Get friendly and become a friend . Pick up a membership form at any library public service desk, print it out from here, or have a form mailed to you by calling 642-5800 and asking for the Friends' voice mail box.

Volunteer with the Friends for an even Friendlier experience. Volunteers are needed year-round to help sort materials on Wednesday mornings, and regularly to help with sales. Cashiering, neatening, bagging, and more volunteer opportunities are open for your participation. Friends' activities are designed to get you involved with friendly people. Membership fees are nominal (see below) and, along with book sale profits, increase the Friends' contribution to the library to over $50,000 per year.

Friends' gifts have been used to acquire countless reference books and other materials in the Adult, Youth, and AV collections; to start up the DVD collection and the art rental collection; to supply BTPL with furnishings, equipment, puppets, educational games, and computers; and, this year, to provide Adult and Youth Services programs-including magicians, musical performances, speakers, and much more.

In addition to the opportunity to get friendly with a lot of great Friends, membership in the Friends of the Library allows you to attend the annual meeting/dinner with speakers such as Dr. Sonya Friedman, Elmore Leonard, Devin Scillian, William Kienzle, and Susan Ager.
